The tour of Florence was thorough and complete with details on the history of all the highlighted sights we'd requested to see. Our guide was wonderful, and provided more than expected in the way of background history of the city, its architecture, monuments and art. I was also impressed by Le Baccanti's professionalism and responsiveness, which was not always the case with other agencies we encountered in our travels. I will definitely keep you on my list of referrals and use you again when visiting the country. Thanks so much for making our holiday in Italy all the richer!
Warmest Regards, Kathy Nitta

Your Best of Florence Half-Day Walking Tour begins when you meet your expert private guide in Florence's historic city center. Your first stop will be to the 14th-century Ponte Vecchio or Old Bridge, beautifully lined with jewelry shops dating back to 1552, when Duke Cosimo I issued an edict ordering jewelers to replace the butcher shops previously located on the historic bridge. Your friendly, knowledgeable English-speaking private guide will take you past the Uffizi Gallery to view one of the local fake Davids, the former site of Michelangelo's real David.
Your half-day walking tour continues with your visit to Piazza della Signoria where you'll be able to admire the Palazzo Vecchio, the historic seat of the Florentine government, and adjacent to the monumental Uffizi Gallery. You won't believe the formidable size of your next stop, that quintessential Florentine landmark: the Duomo, or main Cathedral. This structure is famous for Brunelleschi's dome, Giotto's colorful bell tower and the carved bronze Baptistry doors. No visit to Florence would be complete without a stop in Santa Croce, home to many important burial monuments, among them the tombstone of writer and the inventor of modern Italian, Dante Alighieri.
Time allowing, you might want to continue your Best of Florence Half Day Walking Tour by wandering through the bustling clothing and leather market near the San Lorenzo church. This rustic-faced church hides a beautiful interior definitely worth a closer inspection, and the Medici Chapels behind San Lorenzo church are filled with artistic treasures open to the public.
If you're looking for a spectacular view of the city, head up the steep pedestrian path leading to the city's top at Piazzale Michelangelo. Your effort will be well-rewarded as this promenade and panoramic point was created to give the world a stunning view of Florence's skyline. The piazzale is dominated by yet another replica of Michelangelo's David, this time cast in bronze. Behind the Piazzale Michelangelo looms the cathedral of San Miniato, an architectural jewel with an immense golden mosaic of Christ above the altar, one of the boldest, largest, and most complete mosaics in the Western world.
