Within 30 minutes of driving time, you'll arrive in Carmignano, a beautiful wine region with a large variety of delicious regional products. The fascinating world of Italian salt-cured meats and the lovely Carmignano wine region are yours to be discovered!
Your first morning visit on this private gourmet tour will be to a historic butcher shop brimming with information on the world of salt-cured meats. The most famous charcuterie product is the Slow Food presidio Mortadella di Prato, which as you will see, is absolutely delicious!
You'll find out how these artisan salt-cured products are made, see some of the production process, and then best of all, experience a delicious tasting of the stores' specialties. Other products made onsite include prosciutto, spalla, sausages, and salami.
Your second stop on this full-day culinary adventure will be to explore a charming local village. Here your driver will provide you with ample time to visit the town's gourmet shops before your lunch booking in a typical Tuscan restaurant featuring the town’s unique gastronimic delights.
After lunch, your driver will lead you to one of the region's historic vineyards for a fantastic wine tasting experience led by an expert winery guide.
The Carmignano wine region has been producing wine since the Etruscan era, with over 3,000 years of wine history. Your full-day Carmignano Wine and Meat tour includes a visit to a noted winery boasting a beautifully restored villa and cantina. Here you'll enjoy a guided tour in English with either a winery guide or owner.
Visit the regal villa with its incredible gardens, their rolling hills of vineyards and the silvery sheen of olive trees, concluding with a tasting of their wonderful wines. Your tasting includes several red wines and one white, as well as their extra-virgin olive oil drizzled on a piece of crunchy local Tuscan bread.
Carmignano DOC and DOCG were recognized in the 1980s, and both white and red grapes are planted in the gently rolling vineyards. Native reds such as Canaiolo and Sangiovese are included alongside international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah in this historic wine region. Much smaller yields of whites like Trebbiano are also present. Extra-virgin olive oil production is also an important part of the landscape and regional cuisine.
