My friend Cathy and I had a wonderful experience with Cecilia and Massimo. We did indeed gain some new culinary knowledge and skills, and in general, really enjoyed the hands-on nature of the cooking class. Additionally, and as equally important, we found our hosts/teachers to be knowledgeable, personable and quite open to giving all they could to us as their students. We are leaving our tomato stained aprons as they are (at least for the time being) as tangible reminders of that special day. We regard the class to be one of the high points of our two weeks in Italy, which is saying quite a lot, given the incredible trip that it was for both of us! We also consider ourselves fortunate to have met and spent time with Cecilia and Massimo and hope to visit them again in the future. The scenic drive through the Tuscan countryside is the perfect way to start your day before arriving at Cecilia and Massimo's restaurant in a charming Chianti village. During your half-day private cooking class in Chianti together with Cecilia, you will prepare a full Tuscan menu, beginning with a scrumptious handmade pasta dish with accompanying sauce, and ending with a wonderful Italian dessert. A guided tasting of locally produced organic extra-virgin olive oil with Massimo, your wine expert, is a special treat half-way through the cooking lesson. When you have finished your cooking class you'll be able to relax and enjoy the meal you have prepared together. Massimo will take this occasion to lead you through a guided tasting of three outstanding local Chianti wines he has personally selected that compliment the plates you have created. As with all authentic traditional Tuscan and Chianti cooking, the menu will be based on seasonally available, organic products.
Special Bonus: On Thursdays you may opt to arrive at the Chianti town where Cecilia and Massimo's restaurant is located, where you will be able to explore the town's open-air food market specializing in locally-sourced gourmet and organic ingredients. The market is located nearby the restaurant, and can be visited before your half-day Chianti day culinary lesson. Although the market visit is not guided, it provides a wonderful opportunity to experience how local Italians do their weekly grocery shopping and incorporate only the freshest, most wholesome ingredients into the dishes they produce in their own kitchens.
Cecilia and her husband Massimo run a simple, exceptional first-rate traditional Tuscan osteria situated in a rural Chianti town halfway between Florence and Siena. Cecilia is the professional chef, Massimo runs the front of the house and is also a very knowledgeable sommelier. They provide the perfect environment to learn about authentic Tuscan cooking traditions, and are always happy to share their love of traditional Tuscan cuisine and exceptional local wines.

The complete restaurant address will be sent to you upon completion of your reservation. Although the cooking class's venue is possible to reach by public transportation, a car is highly recommended.
