My father and I took the Montepulciano tour with Le Baccanti. It was a great day and we had a wonderful time. Our driver was so helpful, and gave us great tips on local history. We visited two great wineries, and tasted excellent wines. The scenery was beautiful, and beyond what I had imagined I would see. I would go again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend that others give Le Baccanti a try.

Visit the charming Tuscany hillside towns of Montepulciano and Pienza
Taste delicious Nobile di Montepulciano wines
Relax for a full day in a luxury vehicle with English-speaking driver
View unforgettable Crete Senese landscape
After being picked up at your accommodations in your private luxury car with an English-speaking driver, you'll enjoy one of Italy's most glorious, scenic drives through the famous Crete Senese (clay hills) on your way to the beautiful Tuscan town of Montepulciano. Your first stop will be to a winery where you'll go on a guided tour of the estate's cellars. Following your guided visit, you'll have a wonderful tasting of several fruity, rich wines, including Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
After your visit, you will have a chance to wander through Montepulciano's narrow, ancient streets. The walled town of Montepulciano is perched on one of Tuscany's high peaks, at 605 meters, or 1,950 feet, above sea level. It contains many incredible art treasures, as well as Etruscan and Roman wine cellars, some dating as far back as to the time before Christ. On your break for lunch, you'll be able to have a delicious meal at an excellent local restaurant specializing in traditional Tuscan recipes.
In the afternoon your private Nobile di Montepulciano Wine Tour will take you to nearby town of Pienza, in the heart of Tuscany's prized Val d'Orcia. Pienza is an architectural gem as well as a terrific resource for local gourmet food products, particularly tasty pecorino, sold in both fresh and aged versions. Until the 15th century, Pienza was a small, fortified hilltop town of no distinction until Pope Pius II (Enea Silvio Piccolomini, pope in 1458) decided to transform it into the ideal Renaissance city, a partially successful city-planning undertaking. Today the town's unique architectural and artistic characteristics have earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Your last stop on this private wine tour will be a second great winery where you will have a chance to compare and contrast more Nobile di Montepulciano wines and discuss different wine-making styles and techniques with a qualified winery expert.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is made from a Sangiovese clone that is known as Prugnolo Gentile. As early as the 17th century it was crowned by many as as "the king of Tuscan wines," and thanks to the noble classes eager reception of the luxurious wine, it became known as "noble" and 'aristocratic" wine, hence the name.
