The tour of the estate, cellar, and winery was great. We went through a brief history of the property while exploring it. The tasting was basically up to us, whichever wine we wanted to try, we tried. The estate grounds were amazing, something I hadn't seen before during other wine tours in the States. Overall, a thoroughly pleasant experience I'd do again in a second!

Your half-day truffle experience begins when you meet your English-speaking winery guide and interpreter on a beautiful, historic wine estate halfway between the charming Piedmont towns of Asti and Alba. Your English-speaking guides will be present for your ensuing truffle hunt followed by a guided wine tasting of Barbera d'Asti wines.
This historic Italian winery is set on a large estate in the Piedmont countryside, part of which is dedicated to a large wooded park where the prized Italian truffles have grown as far back as local truffle hunters can recall.
Your English-speaking guide will take you to the park to meet your truffle hunter and truffle-hunting dog. In the company of such professionals, you'll search the park for truffles, under the large trees. You can be confident that your truffle hunter and truffle dog know just where to seek out these exquisite delicacies sought throughout the world, and highly appreciated in Italian kitchens and restaurants.
After your hour-long truffle hunt, complete with a full explanation on truffles and their seasonal types, you will head back to the castle, where you will enjoy a guided tour through the winery and castle, including the historic cellars where the delicious Barbera d'Asti red wine is aged.
Your tour of the castle and winery will conclude in a tasting room, where you will three locally produced red wines, accompanied by a platter of typical local products such as salame, truffle robiola (soft cheese), and other delicious treats. Surely you can find these specialties in other parts of the world, but tasting them and pairing them with your genuine Barbera d'Asti wines in this amazing northern Italian winery will provide unforgettable memories during your stay in Italy.
Your English-speaking winery guide will also share their knowledge of how to use truffles in cooking, and the various foods that pair nicely with truffles. The estate produces around 100,000 bottles of red wine per year from its 25 hectares of vineyard on the estate. The Barbera d' Asti wine they produce is ruby-red in color with an intense, complex bouquet of prunes, berries, and cherries with touches of cocoa and vanilla.
