Venice Wine Tour Program

A local English-speaking chauffeur picks you in Venice* in the morning, and your day of Prosecco wine discovery begins. You will be driven through the verdant hills to your first stop of the day: a small family-run estate with steep vineyards where Prosecco grapes are grown. The owner, Daniele, along with his wife, lovingly tend by hand the 100-year-old vineyards that were passed on to Daniele from his grandfather. You'll be their personal guest, tour the estate and taste the results in their current release wines that are sure to wow your palate. From there you will visit the small medieval hamlet of Follina, with its beautiful Cistercian Abbey dating back to the 12th century. You can enjoy a delicious lunch of local specialties at a local restaurant before going on to the second winery. At this larger, state-of-the-art winery, you'll meet a Milanese businessman who left the city and followed his passion for wine to the captivating lands of Valdobbiadene. During a tasting of this winery's Prosecco you will begin to understand about Prosecco's many variations and styles by comparing these wines to the wines you previously tasted.

About the Sparkling White Wine Prosecco

Just north and inland from Venice lies a land of lush, rolling green hills where wine has been made since Roman times. It is here that Prosecco DOC is produced in the shadow of the mighty Dolomite mountains. This white, sparkling wine is perhaps the most well-known Italian vino frizzante and is the star of numerous local apertivi, before dinner drinks.
