Florence Artisan Chocolate and Historical Cafe Highlights Expert gourmet guide for half day tour Delicious chocolate tastings Learn about historic cafes in Florence
Florence Artisan Chocolate and Historical Cafe Tour Program Your morning or afternoon of decadent, chocolate indulgence begins when you meet your English-speaking expert guide in the town center of Florence. From here on out it is all about tasting and experiencing the world of hand-made chocolates from artisan producers and charming, historic cafes in the heart of Florence. Your first stop is a small artisan chocolate maker who creates amazing chocolates using only the highest quality cacao. You will have time to sample all you want as your friendly, local guide describes what you are sampling and offers suggestions for what to try next. After meandering through the back streets of this timeless area of Florence, you reach a historic cafe that represents a kind of cross between old and new, between “English tea time” and “chocolate lover's dream.” The cafe, besides wonderful hot or cold drinks, prepares and serves an inventive, sweet-tooth menu including everything from crepes and gelato to biscotti cookies and “chocolate soup” that you have to taste to believe! Your guide will describe the era when these cafes first became popular and recount stories of famous people who have sipped a cappuccino in your very seat. The cafe culture is a vestige left over from the time that Florence was the capital of Italy and these streets were filled with government officials, aristocrats, and intellectuals. The cafes were an important place to encounter, discuss, debate and deal over an espresso and a decadent sweet. If you are a true chocoholic, you will still be up for sampling at the next chocolate maker. This workshop creates the most amazing handmade chocolate products from incredible primary ingredients, ensuring a taste and texture few chocolate producers can achieve. You will be able to sample beautiful candies and scrumptious cookies, irresistible to the eye and mouth!
