TESTIMONIALS
The tour of Florence was thorough and complete with details on the history of all the highlighted sights we'd requested to see. Tours of the Uffizi and Accademia were more than we'd bargained for even though our tired feet and faced did not always indicate. Our guide was wonderful, and provided more than expected in the way of background history of the city, it's architecture, monuments and art. I was also impressed by Le Baccanti's professionalism and responsiveness, which was not always the case with other agencies we encountered in our travels. I will definitely keep you on my list of referrals and use you again when visiting the country. Thanks so much for making our holiday in Italy all the richer! Warmest Regards, Kathy Nitta

Best of Florence Walking Tour Highlights
See Brunelleschi's Dome from the inside
Learn about Michelangelo's David
Cross the Ponte Vecchio and hear it's true history
Make the most of your time in Florence with a fun, friendly English-speaking guide
Best of Florence Walking Tour Program
The sun setting behind Ponte Vecchio bridge, Brunelleschi's enormous dome, the bronze doors of the Baptistry, Dante Alighieri's official Italian language, Prada and Ferragamo, these and much more combine to make Florence an enchanting, unforgettable city full of artistic and cultural wonders. Your half-day walking tour exploring this fantastic city begins when you meet your expert guide in the historic city center of Florence. Your first stop is the 14-Century Ponte Vecchio or Old BridgeĀ lined with jewelry shops since 1552 when Duke Cosimo I issued an edict for jewelers to replace all of the butcher shops previously lining the landmark. You friendly, knowledgeable guide will take you past the Uffizzi Gallery to see the fakeĀ David where Michelangelo's real Davide once stood. Next you will visit Piazza della Signoria and the seat of the Florentine city and county government. Take in the immense Palazzo Vecchio where Dante Alighieri was an alderman in 1300. You won't believe the formidable size of your next Florence landmark, the Duomo, or main cathedral, famous for Brunelleschi's dome, Giotto's colorful bell tower and the carved bronze Baptistry doors. No visit to Florence would be complete without a stop in Santa Croce, home to many important tombs, among them a tombstone of the writer and inverntorĀ of the modern Italian language, Dante Alighieri, although his body is buried elsewhere.
If there is time, you might wander through the bustling clothes, purse and leather market near the San Lorenzo church with its plain facade but beautiful interior. At the back of the church is the once private Medici Chapel, filled with artistic treasures, that is now open to visitors. If you are up for the trek, you can walk up the steep park that leads to the top of the city at Piazzale Michelangelo. Your effort will be rewarded as this great promenade and lookout point was created at the end of the 19th century to afford the world a stunning panoramic view across Florence. The piazzale is dominated by yet another replica of Michelangelo's David, this time in bronze. Behind you looms the cathedral of San Miniato, an architectural jewel with an immense golden mosaic of Christ above the altar, one of the three boldest, largest and most complete mosaics in the Christian world.
