TESTIMONIALS
The tour of Florence was thorough and complete with details on the history of all the highlighted sights we'd requested to see. Tours of the Uffizi and Accademia were more than we'd bargained for even though our tired feet and faced did not always indicate. Our guide was wonderful, and provided more than expected in the way of background history of the city, it's architecture, monuments and art. I was also impressed by Le Baccanti's professionalism and responsiveness, which was not always the case with other agencies we encountered in our travels. I will definitely keep you on my list of referrals and use you again when visiting the country. Thanks so much for making our holiday in Italy all the richer! Warmest Regards, Kathy Nitta

Florence Museums Tour with Expert Art History Guide
There is no better way to experience the museums of Florence than with your own private art expert guide. During your half day tour, your guide will give you background information, fascinating art history, and point you towards the most important works to help you fully experience and enjoy the Uffizi Gallery and The Accademia without getting lost in the maze of art!
Your friendly, English-speaking guide will meet you in the morning and accompany you to the first stop of the day, the world famous Uffizi Gallery. The Uffizi, created as a personal collection by the fabulously rich and important Medici family over hundreds of years, is now a public museum. Housed within its walls are: Botticelli's Birth of Venus and Primavera, Caravaggio's Bacchus and Simone Martini's Annunciation to name only a few of the amazing paintings and endless sculptures. Your guide will explain the most important works of art as you walk these enchanting halls.
From the Uffizi, you will have time to stroll through the streets of Florence, a kind of living museum with incredible fountains, sculptures and architecture at every turn. Your guide will keep you entertained with fascinating stories of the history, feuds, love stories and city drama that goes back thousands of years as you head to your second museum of the day.
The Galleria dell'Accademia “The Academy Gallery” is a nice contrast to the immense Uffizi with a much smaller collection and a more intimate feel. This smaller scale creates the perfect mood to fully appreciate Michelangelo's masterpiece: The David. The imposing marble statue was moved to this location in 1873, from its former outdoor location in Piazza Signoria, to avoid further deterioration due to weather. It was restored in 2004 to remove grime and dirt from over its 500 years of existence and is protected by a plexiglas barrier after being attacked in the 1990s. After you have fully appreciated The David, you will have time to view the museum's other unique pieces, including a room dedicated to Michelangelo. |
