The city of Siena is fairly hilly, so we recommend comfortable walking shoes for your sweet Siena trek. Don't be intimidated by the sound of trekking, it is really just walking a little briskly, which is great for your health! Walking is good for circulation and your heart and in only 40 minutes of walking you burn 120 calories. And of course we will stop to enjoy the sites and sweets. You will start your half day trek when you meet up with your friendly, fun guide in the city center of Siena in the famous Piazza del Campo where the Palio horse race happens twice a year. From here, your guide will take you through the winding streets, revealing to you hidden places with a view into the little known corners of Siena. You will visit the many Medieval fountains mentioned in the famous works of Dante Alighieri, whose water was said to make the Siena people crazy. Another legend has it that a door present in one of the watering pools leads to the secret hiding place of a treasure chest hidden by the Spanish in the XVI century when they conquered Siena. The last stop is a famous pastry shop and a brief venture into the world of Sienese sweets!
