Your first stop of the day is a family run winery outside of Orvieto. This ancient wine making area dates back to pre-Roman times and produces both red and white wines of high quality. You will have a guided visit to the wine estate and a chance to taste the delicious wines while enjoying the view of the surrounding countryside. Your next stop is the town of Orvieto, where you can ride the characteristic funicular to the top of the city. You will have time explore this charming town, with its winding streets and before you head to lunch in a local trattoria serving the local specialties such as truffle, wild game and delicious pastas. Later in the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to taste more local wines available in the city's wine bars before you return to Rome. About Umbria's Wine RegionsOrvieto has a long tradition of wine making, dating back to ancient times. Towns and villages such as Orvieto, Amelia, Lugnano and Narni fall within the DOC wine region. DOC wines include both white and red. A few of these are: Rosso Orvietano , Lago di Corbara and Colli Amerini. The province of Terni has several I.G.T. including: Umbria, Allerona and Narni.
