Cooking Class in Rome & Shopping in the Food Market - Program
The sights, sounds and smells of a traditional Roman market are something hard to do justice to in just a few short lines. The intense red of a vine ripe tomato, the encouraging shouts from one vendor to another, and the inviting perfume of a newly sliced round of pecorino cheese are all something that must be experienced to truly understand. This is your chance to shop with your chef in one of Rome's loveliest food markets before your hands-on cooking class.
The class is held in a beautiful home overlooking the botanical garden of Rome. The home is frequented by artists, writers and professionals form the movie and entertainment industry. If you are looking for creative and informal atmospheres this is the perfect class for you. Andrea, your chef is a movie director and producer that loves cooking by using only high quality, possibly organic, local foods. "Sustainable eating" as he says. Andrea is the Master of Ceremonies of "Underground cooking" a very frequented supper-club in Rome where actors, artists and people form the movie industry join together for cultural wine and food evenings.
Andrea's cooking class focuses on Roman dishes prepared with classic Mediterranean ingredients: garlic, onions, anchovies, tomatoes, capers, olives, parsley, rosemary, thyme and more. You will knead and roll out fresh pasta to make tagliatelle, maccheroni and/or ravioli. Then you will learn about different sauces: the classic Italian tomato and basil sauce as well as the bolognese or other seasonal pasta condiments.
The second course may include fish or meat, depending on the best buys available from the local market.
When the weather is nice the table will be set in the beautiful little courtyard just off the kitchen so you can enjoy the meal in the Roman sunshine. On week days, an after lunch stroll to the Botanicla garden is a must

What's Not Included in Your Cooking Class in Rome & Shopping in the Food Market
Transportation is not included. You must arrange your own transportation to Andrea's home. Clear directions will be sent to you with your voucher upon completion of your reservation. Andrea is easily reached by bus or taxi from Rome city center.
