San Gimignano Cooking Class Program
On arrival at this lovely old farmhouse close to both Florence and Siena, your hosts, a local Tuscan family, will greet you warmly and welcome you into their home.  You'll learn about traditional Tuscan cooking, with an emphasis on the great cucina povera and the history of this wonderful peasant-style approach to cooking found here in Tuscany.  
Under the watchful eye of Fulvio, your expert English-speaking home chef, you'll create a menu of classic Tuscan dishes like panzanella, bruschetta, two types of handmade pastas, a meat dish, and accompanying local vegetables.  Come and discover the simplistic beauty of Tuscan cuisine, and the role that fresh ingredients play in this regional cuisine rooted in the deep poverty that struck the country during war times.  
This wonderful half-day cooking class exploring traditional Tuscan recipes in a beautiful old farmhouse now lovingly restored to its former glory, will open a world of authentic food experiences to you.  Upon completion of the hands-on cooking portion of your cooking class near Florence and Siena, you'll be seated for a full meal composed of the dishes you've prepared with your English-speaking chef. 
During this cooking course and meal, you'll gain a new appreciation of the Tuscan cucina povera, a culinary art form in which all ingredients must compliment each other.  This deeper understanding of regional Italian cooking history can help make your dining and cooking experiences even fuller, and will give you additional insight into the wonderful food, wine and hospitality unique to Tuscany.

What's not included

The farm is located near San Gimignano and halfway between Florence and Siena.  You must have a car, or you can contact us for an estimate for a private driver to reach the location (prices for a driver start from 230 for two people).  This class is not guaranteed to be private, however groups are always small, with to 6 people max.  If you are interested in a strictly private class please contact us.
